What safety precautions do I have to make after an virus/malware-attack?

Hey,recently my PC got infected by some malware/virus. I contacted the Microsoft-Support and together we could solve the issue. There is just one thing that still concerns me - they said that a virus/malware usually attacks/manipulates the on the system installed Antivirus-Program in order for it to roam free on. So my question: After having scanned an removed all malicious files with two different Antivirus-Programs (Malwarebytes & MS Defender), Is my McAfee-Antivirus (which was the only one installed during the infection) fine and usable again or do I have to reinstall/update it?A second
