This should be a simply answer to find, but it's not. My version says it is 1.225.2377.0.

I had free upgrade from 64 bit Win 7 Pro. I am concerned about multiple security issues in addition to my simple request above:

Why is it that we have to manually run a full scan in Defender?

Why is it that even though I have auto updates checked for Windows everything, that when I check Defender several times a day, I end up being the cause of the system updating? No matter what time, it is my manual updating and NOT Defender.

Why can't I go to the Defender update page? I am signed into my MSFT account. I am very concerned about this security issue: I have multiple sources that say Defender should be enough for AV programs, but relying on this despite these issues is scary!

Also, I did install Malwarebytes - both paid full versions - that are not an AV program according to them, but I uninstalled them because I kept getting notifications that I had no AV program at all. So:

1) Windows doesn't seem to know the difference, and just allows the program to stop running (have also tried restarting service, etc)

2) Why can't a customer easily find an answer to the file/program version as well as any other program's customers can?

3) Please don't just tell me to DL an uninstall program to fully delete: I would really just like specific answers to my very specific questions. I had to do a system reset because Defender did NOT pick up a problem. Malwarebytes anti-exploit did. So how good is this "realtime" - but clearly not real TIME - security system? If there are several hours between when definitions were created and when I have to MANUALLY check and DL, how is this REAL TIME?

Thanks, not going to shoot the messenger, but c'mon MSFT! How are you able to get away with this level of willful inscrutability and failure to take responsibility for your own products - resulting in customers like me searching for hours for answers that require actions WAY above my paygrade/knowledge level/education in all things IT?
