What is happening to the icons on my desktop and my file explorer?

After personalizing my Desktop wallpaper from picture to slideshow, the icons from not only my desktop but also my file explorer on this account have disappeared — nothing on the left navigation/panel is displaying (where normally Documents, Downloads, Desktop, Quick Access happen to be). Note that the labels are still there.In addition to changing the wallpaper I also wanted to change the startup sound which required me to download a StartupSoundChanger execution file which required 'Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5031323)'.I checked on another
