After the last Windows update, I find myself spending more and more time watching the circle of frustration waiting for a PC that I can actually use and I must say it drives me mad.

Booting my computer takes an age so I normally choose 'Hibernate" - It seems Microsoft has now found a way to slow that down sufficiently to drive me to writing this message.

To top it all I have now had just the most bizarre experience. After waiting 5 minutes for my PC come out of hibernation while it just sat there with no indication whatsoever as to what it was waiting for, I eventually rebooted it. After many more minutes wondering why I still use Windows, I eventually got a window wanting me to verify my Microsoft account before it will let me in. How does it want to do that - by sending a code to my email address. How do I get to my email account - through my computer - Errrr. I wonder who thought that one up. What's more the keyboard configuration was not a UK one so I had to spent a minute or so trying to work out which key gave me the '@' symbol. Bonklers!!!

Eventually wondering why I was persisting with this, I clicked the close cross on the window and hey presto, I am back to a request for my pin.

Oh yes - anyone know why my PC will no longer automatically lock when not used for a few minutes. I've tried adjusting the parameters in the personalisation window but it is clearly something arcane.

I bought this computer to use it not to watch it performing updates. I am sure Someone will blame it on other apps performing updates (I don't have that many) but I would ask why my Apple laptop and its apps don't suffer these problems
