What happened with the latest update...really messed up my computer

I was prompted to install the latest updates for W 11 on 18 January 2025. They are KB5050009 and KB5049622. When I returned to the computer the next day, my desktop was no longer in its customized appearance, the taskbar had lost the items that I had kept there for the last couple of years, the "non-Microsoft" default apps that I had set had all been changed to Microsoft stuff and I am sure that as I continue to use my device I will find more things that have been changed or deleted.
