What does it mean when you have to click Enter over 100 times to get the screen asking for PIN?

If I leave my computer for a while, it goes dark, as it is supposed to. It takes a few clicks to get the blue screen up and then sometimes over 100 clicks to get the screen that asks for my PIN. What does this mean?
