Greetings fellow technet users.
I have a question about Windows Deployment Services, specifically the multicasting feature within it .
I'm currently testing the multicast feature in hope of using multicast instead of unicast in some siturations at work yet there's one problem that stands in the way of that to happen.
When I try to multicast two similar computers with 80GB hard drives I get the following message:
"Windows Setup cannot locate a valid hard drive to store temporary installation files. To install Windows, create more free space on the hard drive or add a new hard drive."
My first thought was "Try a smaller image" so I tried to deploy a Windows 7 image (at about 8 GB).
The same error message popped up and I started increasing the capacity of the hard drives, again hoping that would fix the problem. I tried 160GB hard drives with no luck. Not until trying deploying with 250 GB hard drives I got some results. And then seemed like it dropped the multicast and started to unicast instead (It never copied the files it installed directly from the server).
To make it short and clear:
Also: Unicast works perfectly without any errors or problems.
Thank you,

- How come I need a 250GB hard drives to multicast a 8GB image ?
