Was this a scam or no?

I clicked on a website and it had this pop out with a loud voice over, and it was saying my ip adress was copied and to not click off or shut down or my identity would get stolen. It gave me a number, and told me to call Microsoft for support:/ help (+ 1-844-301-6445). I called my mom and sister and they said to click off bc it’s a scam. I’m a bit paranoid, so should I have called or was it actually a scam.
