Hello.
My new laptop (travelmate p257) came with 2 system images - originally w7 pro and w10 pro but due to hard drive fault acer put a new one in and it now has w7 and 8.1 system images instead. It is set up to auto boot in legacy bios mode to enable the w7 pro downgrade thus assuming it is in that mode now as I use w7 pro and picked that OS from initial set up.
I now wish to upgrade to w10 and decided to begin this from the microsoft site, unfortunately it failed as was stuck checking for updates overnight thus had to close down. Rebooting was fine and w7 pro as usual thus looks like the failed update has not changed anything but do not know for sure if any files have been altered.
My Q is.. I would like the boot mode in to uefi as think perhaps there might be an issue with w10 and legacy bios. How do I alter this and upgrade correctly from w7 pro?
Would restoring system image to w8.1 first automatically change boot to native uefi and thus be a better method?
Acer documentation states using recovery mgt/restore to factory defaults and choosing w10 OS system image will change boot to native uefi but as hard drive has been changed and now contains w8.1 image instead of w10, I am not sure now how to proceed to move to w10 smoothly and have my bios set to native uefi
