I know I have already downloaded and installed this update, but my Vista
notebook still wants me to download and to install this update.

Are you sure that it is not wanting to install the Vista update to SP1? It
is a bit confusing but the initial SP1 is the general one for VS2005 in any
version of windows. The second one updates SP1 specifically for Vista.

I have downloaded and installed 5 times already and only one update shows in
the "installed update" ,KB932231. I also checked the update history, all of
them have the same display name.

Downloaded and installed what?

FWIW here is a link which could be implied by your Subject:

There is no such KB article? What is the update called?

How are you doing this update? The update history only reflects those
which are done using WU or AU, e.g. not ones downloaded and installed
manually.

BTW you might get better assistance from those who would have already
successfully installed this update, by posting in an VS NG.
Cross-posting for convenience. There are also MSDN forums
where you might find similar information.

Good luck
