[Vista x86] System restore used, now Windows Updates fail to insta

Recently (today), I had to use system restore to a July 10th restore point.
I was quite happy that it worked, and of course WU decided to re-advertise
the updates since the restore point.

Unfortunately, a large number of these updates have failed to apply. The
"history" pane shows the following KB articles as failing to apply:

937077 936357 935807
935280 933928 929916
905866

I can provide the WindowsUpdate.log file, or any other relevant log file
portions. Can you please let me know what else I can do to diagnose and
solve this issue?

I've looked at %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log, and the following items were the
only odd items:

(these four lines repeat quite often
Misc WARNING: GetServerFileTime failed. error 0x80072f76
Misc WARNING: WinHttp: IsFileToBeDownloaded failed with 0x80072f76
Misc WARNING: WinHttp: ShouldFileBeDownloaded failed with 0x80072f76
Misc WARNING: WinHttp: WinHttpQueryHeaders(WINHTTP_QUERY_LAST_MODIFIED)
failed. error 0x80072f76

Agent WARNING: Failed to obtain the authorization cab URLs, hr=0X80072F76

Setup FATAL: SelfUpdate check failed, err = 0x80072F76

Try a search? ; }

You're posting using a web interface so just press Alt-7 and type your
error code and press Enter. There are quite a few hits so use the filter
to see if any poster has bothered tagging their thread: press Alt-i, Enter
and choose Answered Questions. Here is the first hit when I do that:
