Video streaming problems after update from windows 10 to 11

recently I took the option to update my windows 10 PC to win 11 (Dell Precision 7540). Immediately I noticed problems when trying to watch videos on many platforms, including youtube, but many others. playback of local video from file is OK, it just seems to be streaming online video that is virtually non-functional, it doesn't just buffer, it takes minutes to start, then plays for seconds before stopping.
