VIA - Networking - VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter

I'd like to know what is "VIA - Networking - VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet
Adapter" for?
But I have to explain it in Portuguese to a friend in Brazil.
 
First you tell us what this has to do with Windows Update?

He was installing updates in his notebook and found this one.
He uses his computer to work at home and to access internet.

NEVER install anything but OS updates from MS.

Get driver updates from the mgfr. of the hardware.
(what you're describing is a hardware driver update
for your built in network "card")

If SP1 is already installed and the machine is working OK, I personally
would not recommend installing this driver update for the network adapter
via Windows Update, Jose.

If a driver update is available from
http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/networking/ or the computer manufacturer's
support pages, get it from this source instead.
