Use a USB CD/DVD drive with old software that only detects internal disc drives

Hi there,I'm looking to use some old software which relies on an internal CD or DVD drive to properly function. The laptop I'm using has no disc drive at all, so I have an external USB DVD drive. It's detected properly by the OS and all contents are accessible within Windows, but the program itself won't detect it. Is there a way to make it see the external drive as an internal one?Thanks in advance
