USB Ports seem not to be working correctly

Hi,I'm unsure of what's happened but just recently my USB ports don't seem to be working properly. They seem to give power to whatever I plug in (mouse, External Hard Drives, Charger wires etc.) but other than the chargers nothing seems to work with them. For example, my mouse lights up but I get no notification to say the mouse is connected to the USB and other than lighting up it does nothing. Could anyone please advise? I'm using a Lenovo Gaming Pad.
