USB drive problems

Basically my USB drive shows up when I start my PC but when l try to use it, it suddenly disconnects and will only show up again if I restart my pc. Ive tried plugging it in different slots but the same thing happens. It does however show up in "Devices and Printers" normally and in "Device Manager" as an unknown USB after it disconnects. I was thinking it might be an overload of data transferring? Everytime it happens Im looking through a folder with more than a thousand video's, each being 40-70 MB usually. I dont know if it's the USB or my PC because l don't have a second PC nor do I have a
