Upgrading from Windows 11 Home to Pro

Hello. I recently bought a new laptop with a Windows 11 Home version installed, however I want to upgrade it to Pro. I do have a digital license linked to my Microsoft account which has worked on other PCs before. I've tried to upgrade it with the generic key but it says that I must have a valid license for that.
