Upgrade to Windows 11

I am eventually going to be required to upgrade to Windows 11. The problem is that the last time I tried, a program called Onedrive destroyed my directory tree then proceeded to try to upload 17TB of videos to the cloud. How do I upgrade and prevent Onedrive from infesting my PC? Please and thanks in advance.
