updating Win 11Pro21H2 to latest version: need for full reinstall of all apps?

The automatic update showed that my version of WIN11 is end of support. When I click to download the newer version on the Tray Icon, nothing happens. The windows Update in setting shows a missing update. The question: how to proceed to avoid to have to create a fresh disk with the latest version installed. Can I just download from the MS website, install and keep all the installed programs?I definetly want to avoid running on a OS without support. Many thanks for advise on how to proceed. ....
