For the last four automatic updates I downloaded, I have received the

following message each time.

The MS updates shown were NOT installed:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 Security Update

for Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP x86 (KB979909)

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 Security Update for Windows 2000 and

Windows XP (KB979906)

Any ideas why ?

I tried reinstalling my update (a different KB No.) from the Microsoft site

and it still wouldn't install. I have XP.

Did you watch the update process as it proceeded, each step of the way?

Were you able to watch the download progress bar so you were sure the

files were downloaded? If you are not able to download the files you

might consider running Malwarebytes Antimalware, click the 3rd tab and

update the files, then on the 1st tab select Full Scan. I had trouble

doing download due to a DNS trojan that changed some ip addresses in the

registry, Windows Update tried to download the files but was unable, so

I got messages similar to what you described.

Thanks Mike,

I know that this has been a problem of late with many postings in diff

newsgroups, but I will try your suggestions.
