Update has killed my PC

Windows did an update and now it won't start up.I can get the PC to go into windows repair mode (the blue screen with recovery options and diagnostics) but it won't do anything at all. Every option I choose just says it failed and to get something else, which all fails too.I run my business on my PC and I obviously don't want to lose all of the documentation on there.There should be an option to disable updates as they seem to cause more problems than good.
