Hello.

I have a problem when trying to connect a usb to serial adapter

http://www.coolgear.com/serial/2-port-serial/dual-port-usb-serial-rs-232-adapter-prolific-chipset.html?%3Fpk_campaign=wp2%25NTCODE%25&pk_kwd=%25POSTID%25&fb_ref=Default

When i plug in the cable i get a notification in the bottom right corner saying "USN Device not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it." Then after few seconds this message disappears and another one pops up "Unknown device successfully installed". In my device manager i am able to see now an "Unknown device" listed under the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" tab.

I have uninstalled all of the USB drivers and reinstalled them but the problem persists. I have also installed the driver found in the link i have pasted in this post.

I also have to mention that "Ports(COM * LPT)" tab is missing from device manager.

I really need to use this adapter and i waste a day reading and trying every single solution found on google.

Any ideas?

Thank you.
