Flight-simmer
Guest
I spent about 6 months a few years ago setting up a flight sim using Microsoft FSX, Windows 7 on a Intel i7 950 machine. I also use Nvidia 3d vision and the Saitek pro-flight panels. I have numerous addons, track IR, another PC on network running flight tracking software using sim connect to link into FSX. I have had to do learn and undertake some programming to set up cfg files so everything talks to each other and functions ok. As you will appreciate this cost a lot of money and time to set up and I am not sure how I did it all now it was so complex.
Since June 15 after windows 7 installed some updates I have a problem which I cannot solve.
I used to have windows update set to notify me before installing to avoid any problems these might cause to my set up. However they were set to install automatically in error in June 15 and now there is an incompatibility between the USB Saitek pro flight yoke and the USB IR emitter for Nvidia 3d vision 2. When you plug in the yoke, the emitter stops working entirely and so 3d vision no longer works. For the past 3 weeks I have spent hours trying to resolve this problem. Firstly updating all the Saitek and Nvidia drivers, uninstalling and clean reinstalling these drivers, using old drivers , removing all Saitek drivers and trying the SPAD driver for the yoke. Nothing works. Eventually having spoken to Nvidia and Saitek, they both point to a recent windows update being the culprit.
So I have tried to remove all the updates to see if this resolves. However I am unable to uninstall these two updates. On right clicking there is no uninstall option. Having read posts on here and google searching it seems that the only solution is to re-install windows. This is not an option for me given the extensive time and money spent putting the system together, it would take months again to set everything back up and I'm not sure how I would be able to do it all again. There is no restore point prior to the updates which is unusual but means I cannot roll back to an earlier state.
I would therefore ask that Microsoft please help me and others and issue a solution so that these two updates can be uninstalled, or if they cannot uninstall then Microsoft provide instructions on how to reverse the changes they have made to Windows 7. For example replacing modified files with pre updates ones and adjusting the registry if needs be. If this is not possible I would like Microsoft to advise why.
Thank you very much for reading this and taking the time to respond to a faithful and repeated customer of Microsoft.
thank you
