Hi,
My laptop is a Windows 10 Pro Build 18363, connected to my home network thru WiFi. My desktop is a Windows 7 Ultimate connected to my home network via Ethernet cable.
I'm unable to ping from my Windows 7 desktop to my laptop running Windows 10 Pro. Both are on the same FIOS network.
My desktop IP: 192.168.1.3
My laptop IP: 192.168.1.5
When I try to ping my laptop 192.168.1.5 from my desktop 192.168.1.3 I get this error:
C:>ping 192.168.1.5
Pinging 192.168.1.5 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.3: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.1.3: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.1.3: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.1.3: Destination host unreachable.
Ping statistics for 192.168.1.5:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
But NSLOOKUP is able to see both IPs when I execute the command from the either the desktop or laptop:
C:>nslookup 192.168.1.5
Server: Wireless_Broadband_Router.home
Address: 192.168.1.1
Name: DESKTOP-T44N29U.home
Address: 192.168.1.5
C:>nslookup 192.168.1.3
Server: Wireless_Broadband_Router.home
Address: 192.168.1.1
Name: Tulio-PC.home
Address: 192.168.1.3
The issue came about while attempting to RDC from my desktop to my laptop while both connected thru the same network. I've enabled "Enable Remote Desktop" on the laptop and pretty much have followed this troubleshooting link with no success:
But if I cannot ping the laptop from my desktop, RDC isn't going to work either. So I think the root of the problem is adjusting something in order for the desktop to see the laptop.
Thanks.
Tulio
