Unable to login, keyboard and mouse not responding

Hi, I can't login on boot as neither the (wireless) keyboard or mouse are responding. Have tried the following:1) rebooting 2) changed batteries 3) use different USB ports for wireless dongle 4) replaced wireless keyboard and mouseA bit stumped. Suggestions welcome.
