When I go to microsoft too check for updates and click on either custom or
express, it gets stuck on "Checking your computor for the latest version of
updates" and the green bar keeps scanning as if it is checking.
I am using IE6 with windows NT and active x is enabled and under services,
automatic updates and messenger are enabled.
I could do updates until about a week ago.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Bobby

Hello Bobby,

>> and the green bar keeps scanning as if it is checking.<<

The most likely cause is that the Background Intelligent Transfer Service
(BITS) is not working properly, isn't started, or needs upgrading.

Dial ª- Fixit is NOT for Vista-

Try this

Suggest cleaning up the system (clearing out all the Temp/Tmp folders, and
included all offline content, clearing the browser TIF, Delete Cookies , do a
Disk CleanUp.

Please confirm your system clock and Time Zone also the Date set properly,

Dial-ª- Fix
http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix

Run this program with all the functions activated.
Scroll down about 2/3 of the way to Download Dial-a-fix

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

or

"Checking for updates, depending on your speed this process may take several minutes"
Try registering the following:

Click Start, select Run and type (pressing enter after each one and wait for the success
message):

net.exe stop wuauserv
Press Ok

Repeat for the following:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Hi Engel,
Ok I did what you and cleaned everything up and still no luck.
I was unable to download dial-a-fix. I got a popup window that says file
unavailable.
My clock and date are correct

Hi Bobby,

Sounds like something is deliberately interfering with your downloads,
perhaps malware, perhaps not. Maybe the server was busy at the time when you
try. I test the Primary download location link right now and is ready to D/L

Try to D/L the file using a different PC. The size of the file is small,
only 328 kb and copy the file to your PC

Be sure your system is clean before you try to D/L the updates from Microsoft.

Have you try the solution given by TaurArian. What happen?
