Running Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit on Dell XPS8700. Trying to install scanner driver for HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus n911g. Printer is connected wirelessly and prints. Unable to install the scanner drivers. Talked to Dell and HP. Both ran through the litany of potential fixes - removing drivers, all HP related SW, check reg to ensure that all artifacts have been removed. Tried installing from factory Cd and downloading install SW from HP. Tried install with and and without firewalls turned on. Wife's laptop also connected wirelessly and using same SW config as mine has scan to computer capability working. Installing SW gets to the point of searching for hardware and locks up. Must use control-alt-delete to exit program.
