Unable to enter username when being prompted for elevated credentials

I work for an IT helpdesk and we many instances where we install software/drivers and such for user in our environment. When we install software or drivers we are prompted to enter our admin credentials. Our tier 2 team uses a local "technician" account to access admin abilities on a machine while the machine is not connected to the network or VPN. This account is sometimes signed in when we attempt to input our admin credentials to complete software installs. Is there anyway to bypass this and allow us to input our own credentials?
