Unable to convert a drive from mbr to gpt without losing data

Hello, I'm having a specific issue I need help with. I recently purchased a new 4TB SSD and learned that only 2TB of it can be used because this is the maximum size of a partition in the mbr structure. As a result I'm trying to convert the drive from MBR to GPT. When I try to convert the drive using the mbr2gpt tool in the command prompt it says "disk layout validation failed for disk 0". Disk 0 is the drive I'm trying to convert, it is not the drive my OS is installed on/booting from. That would be Disk 3.
