After the recent update of Windows 10 May 2004 I could not access the Public folders that were shared, prior to update things where fine.

The only work around is set Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders

in Network Sharing under all networks, but I don't want my roomates to see the public folders, only me.

I can access all the other shared folders on my Laptop and PC, I checked all shared settings and they are correct. Something the update changed in the network and sharing center it says if the option is turned off, "people logged on to this computer can still access these folders" but that is not true,

I tried removing credentials and re-adding them, didn't work.

I tried all the options from this [Fixed] Windows 10 File Sharing Not Working After Update 1803/1809/1903 - EaseUS

and this is where I found the answer https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/50179-turn-off-public-folder-sharing-windows-10-a.html

how can I go back to being logged on to the laptop or pc and still seeing the public shared folders, under public shared settings it is shared. so I should also see them along with the other folders that I can see and read and write ?
