Trying to transfer Windows 10 Pro from an old PC to new PC with Windows 10 Home

I am trying to transfer Windows 10 Pro from an old PC to new PC with Windows 10 Home. I have access to the product key on the machine (which was for Windows 7 Pro). However, when I clear the license from the old machine and attempt to transfer to the new, it fails. This was a PC that a friend gave me and we don't have any other license details (it is a legit machine but he does not recall the email used to get the key).
