I purchased a new computer and ordered it w/ Works thinking I could use my

Office 2007 Upgrade CD I used on my old computer (to upgrade from Office

2003). Apparantly that won't work?? It says I don't have a valid Office

copy on the new computer and it doesn't recognize the Works either. I

thought you could install on 3 computers?? My old computer had OEM installed

software which was Office 97 upgraded to 2003, to 2007. Do I need to buy a

full copy for the new computer??? Thanks in advance.

You need to run MSUpdate for the Works patch

OK, downloaded and ran but it asks for the Works CD which I don't have as it

came preinstalled on the new computer. Any suggestions?

Did you save the file to the computer and then run it or did you try to run

it from the download page? If from the download page, re-download to the

computer's hard drive and run from there after disconnecting from the

internet, turning off the antivirus program and firewall. This patch will

usually fail to run properly from the run button on the download page.

If the above fails, post back.

If that fails I would contact the computer manufacturer to determine if you

can get a copy of the Works disk or fail that, Amazon has Works 9 for sale

at $37.XX with free shipping (yes I know you have already purchased it once

but as an OEM version.)

Yep, saved it to the desktop and then ran it. I will try your suggestion to

download to the drive. Thanks.

OK, downloaded to hard drive and then ran it. Says it needs the CD to work.

Guess I should have just got it installed on this computer and been done with

it. Thanks for the help.
