transferring files, etc from old nonfunctional pc to window vista laptop

this question is a little beyond my scope. my pc ran windows 10 and crashed after many virus problems. i have an older Toshiba laptop running windows vista and would like to transfer everything from the nonworking pc to the laptop. is this at all doable? if so please explain in simple terms- am not a techie. Thank you.
