Transfer windows 10 from dead prebuilt pc to new pc?

I got a prebuilt pc a number of years ago and the motherboard just died. I built a new pc and moved my hard drives to the new system. The graphics card and drives are the only thing that came from the old system. When I tried to activate windows it would not work and none of the online tips worked. As far as I'm aware its a retail version of windows.
