Touchpad not working

My Touchpad has stopped working on my ASUS X415 laptop - When pressing F6 it says "Touchpad Disabled"I have followed some google advice on updating drivers and looking in Device manger but the Touchpad is not displayed there.Is this likely a software issue or a faulty touchpad (4 days after warranty expired!)
