I read on a web-link from Microsofts site that these newsgroups will be

eliminated in June and that they will be transfered to the Microsoft forums.

If so, will all the posts be transfered and also in my profile? Or will all

my saved posts be lost and or deleted and everything starts again?

I just want to confirm this since in the last few days I have been unable to

log on here, I thought this place was down.

Thank you.

Some newsgroups will be dropped on June 1st. No newsgroup content will be

"transferred" to any forum. See

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx.

The Google's archive will remain in place for at least 7 years so you

won't have any problems accessing old, unworkable solutions, by

Pig-Bear, Microsoft Valuable Pig.

The link to the archive is here:

I assume you mean in the new forums that the one I just posted to is the one

that will be online for 7 years, right?

Beginning in June 2010, Microsoft will begin closing newsgroups...Microsoft

is closing newsgroups in phases and anticipates completing this by Fall

2010.

Is there a list of the newsgroups that will be closing on June 1st anywhere?

Not that I know of but here are a few I've noted:

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser

microsoft.public.security.virus

microsoft.public.security.homeusers

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.beta

microsoft.public.internet.mail

microsoft.public.msn.*

microsoft.public.ch.outlookexpress (OE-specific newsgroup for speakers of

Swiss languages)

microsoft.public.win98.* (except Win98 General)

microsoft.public.winme.*
