The WORD shortcut icon from bottom menu-bar no longer works (gives no response).

1). I Click on the WORD icon shortcut under the START menu, with no response. 2). I next right-click on the WORD shortcut from the START menu and select the option 'Open file location' taking me to the Word shortcut under 'Programs'. Clicking or Dbl-clicking here also does nothing (no response). 3). Right clicking here on the 'WORD icon' shortcut (under 'Programs'), opens another menu where I again click the option 'Open file location' taking me to the 'WINWORD Application' line under "Program Files > root > Office16".
