the chrome icon on my desktop changed from the tri-color icon to a blank page. Browser seems to be working ok, just

The chrome icon on my desktop changed from the multi-colored icon to a blank space. Cannot access chrome from the icon (or any other place) but the browser seems to be working ok just no reasonable way to open it. I have to do a restart and the browser appears as the opening page then.
