The July 13 update has created the worst nightmare in the history of MS updates, and that is saying a lot.
I have, for the last year, had to use the right click from the start menu to access admin/powershell and reinstall all of the MS apps about twice a day using: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Not because I wanted any of the crappy MS apps, but because I wanted the Start Menu and right clicks on the Task bar to access my work. I understood that Microsoft was simply not willing to repair this. and would allow us, its users and customers to have to waste half of every work day forever until some imaginary future where we might possibly have a decent operating system again... maybe. But this was to go on indefinitely. Despite my taking ALL of the Windows 10 updates, which should and could have easily included a hotfix for this.
But core elements of allowing the updgrade to stick, to stay fixed, were never fixed. And so the constantly repeating errors continued.
Now we have a record breaker. the worst yet.
This morning the PC worked normally. I was using it; then took an afternoon nap. When I came back to the machine, the usual Start menu and task bar clicks were gone. But something else was happening and I did not know why. I couldn't find the System wheel... and the fixes I normally did didn'[t work. In fact to just restart the computer takes nearly an hour of waiting while it appears to be doing nothing, or wheel spinning loading.
I not only no longer have a Start menu nor right clicks on the Task bar. The latest updates have also destroyed the product key on my operating system, an upgrade from Windows 8.1, and will not accept the product key when I try to activate it.
I have also had all of my Microsoft Office programs taken from me. I use Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, etc, all 2013 versions, for my work daily. But they now show that they are no longer registered to me, will not allow me to register them or repair this, and they close. That's the end of them. "Microsoft Office can no longer find your license for this application. A repair attempt was unsuccessful or was cancelled. Microsoft Office will now exit."
I also do not have the System interface any more (the Win 10 one with the wheel icon. So I no longer have the privilege of setting up my computer and keeping up with updates.
After spending a FULL 8 hour day today working on these failed issues, I have tried to reinstall Windows 10. But, both in Safe Mode with Network support, or in full boot up of the operatring system, "an error occurs" 0x80080005 0x90016 and the installation cannot be completed.
This computer is a little more than a year old. It was a Win 8.0 or Win 8.1 machine, an HP with a ton of memory, a very large hard drive, and everything working fine. Until the Windows 10 upgrade came along...
Seriously, I can well imagine people becoming intensely depressed and suicidal trying to overcome Microsoft's hostile take over of our homes. It's evil.
If there is any tech support out there who knows what to do, please, tell me.
