I have been running into the same issue, but I think I found a solution.

To make sure this works for you, set your taskbar to the size you want.

Open up Display Properties (right click in open space on desktop and select

properties). Go to Appearance Tab and select the button labeled Advanced

which when clicked, opens up the window Advanced Appearance. Do not change

anything just hit OK, then hit OK in the Display Properties Window. A small

window with the Windows XP theme saying Please Wait should pop up and

disappear after a short period. Did your taskbar resize to the default size?

If it did NOT resize, then I have no solution for you, sorry.

If it DID resize, reset the taskbar to the size you want, go back to the

Advanced Appearance window (Display Properties Window -> Appearance Tab ->

Hit Advanced Button) and in the pull down list labeled Item:, select Caption

Buttons. For the size make sure it is a multiple of 6 (6, 12, 18, 24, etc.).

The default size is 18. Hit OK, then hit OK in the Display Properties

Window. A small window with the Windows XP theme saying Please Wait should

pop up and disappear after a short period. Did your taskbar remain the size

you wanted?

If so, you are in business. Restart and make sure it stays the same size.

If not, then I suggest you reset to a default theme and play around with the

sizes in the Advanced Appearance Tab.

Good Luck.

ps. I am using the Windows Classic Style windows and buttons I looked up

Windows XP style and the Caption Buttons has a default size of 25. You may

want to play around with this value if you are using XP look for buttons.

Also your taskbar icons may look very pixilated. Try restarting and see if

they look better after that.

Nope.

Thanks anyway.
