Hello. On my old XP computer today I clicked on the Microsoft Security Essentials logo (in the taskbar) and when it opened it says "Real Time Protection"-OFF and "Virus and Spyware Definitions"-OUT OF DATE. Also the UPDATE, HISTORY and SETTINGS tabs AS WELL as the option to perform a scan are all "grayed out". When I open Microsoft Security Center (in Control Panel) it says the MSE is ON. I even went to Microsft Download Center and downloaded the latest MSE update manually (the version that was released today) and the update was successful. Security Center shows that MSE is both "On" and "Up To Date" but when opening MSE itself all options (mentioned above) are still "grayed out". Anbody else having this problem? MSE has been updating automatically every few days without issues (yes automatic updates are turned on) and I have run several manual scans with it the last week or so without any problems. As a precaution I ran malware/virus scans with three consectutive programs and got no indication of any problems. Again...Security Center shows MSE is ON and UP TO DATE but MSE (itself...when clicking the icon) shows otherwise. I even restarted twice to no avail. Weird. Any tips appreciated. Cheers.
