Outlook, Approximately Version 2004 - 16.0.12730.20236 and higher. Click to run deployment.

When searching "Current Mailbox" or "Current Folder". ("Subfolders" and "All Outlook Items" works fine), we get the error:

"Something went wrong and your search couldn't be completed" with a sub-message of "It looks like there's a problem with your network connection.

This is an Exchange 2016 On-Premise Environment, Version 15.1 ‎(Build 1847.3)‎.

Now, here is something REALLY strange about this. The first time you open Outlook after upgrading or downgrading, the previous behavior stays in place. For example if you are on Outlook version 2003 (16.0.12624.20382 or so), and you upgrade to 2004, the first time you open 2004, the Outlook search still works. The 2nd time you open Outlook at the higher version, the search misbehaves. Conversely, when you downgrade to 2003 from 2004, the first time you open Outlook, the search will NOT work. Subsequent openings of Outlook will result in the search working fine.

Any ideas?

(Search works great in OWA)
