After an update installed overnight (and completely broke my audio drivers the day of an important call, but I was able to repair that by staying up until 3am...) it seems that a lot of my start menu icons are gone. Clicking a tile still boots up an app just fine.
If you try to drag in an app from the left side to the start menu, it now refuses and shows this symbol in the image below. Maybe this is related? I am still able to right-click an app from the list on the left and select "pin to start" and it'll work just fine, but with the icon still missing. I can also still re-arrange and re-size tiles.
I'm not sure why some apps still have icons. Inkscape was downloaded from the windows store, but Firefox, VS Code, and ShareX were not. I don't know why that's inconsistent. Firefox and VSCode have custom tile BG colours, but ShareX doesn't, so that's also inconsistent.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've already tried sfc scannow, rebuilding the icon cache, making sure the start menu folder's shortcuts still have icons, running powershell scripts people posted to fix similar issues in the past...
