Solution for my Nvidia driver vanishing on my Razer Edge after Windows 8.1 and 10 updates?

To get started, I have a Razer Edge Pro tablet. I've enjoyed using it since I first bought it back in 2014. I upgraded it to Windows 10 when it was first offered to me and had no major issues with it save the loss of being able to use the buttons for auto-rotate and keyboard.

Then about three months ago, I noticed my Nvidia driver would vanish and I wouldn't be able to use it for games. I wouldn't get any error messages unless I tried to open up the Nvidia Control panel. It would then tell me that a Nvidia graphics card was not detected on the system. If I pulled up the device manager, it wouldn't even list Nvidia with the red X. It was just gone. I found that if I restarted my tablet, the driver would appear once again and I could continue as usual. It gradually became worse and soon restarts wouldn't fix it at all.

I had assumed it must have meant my graphics card was going bad and was preparing to send it in for repairs. I did some searching on the web first and found I wasn't the only one experiencing this issue. I tried reinstalling Windows 10 using the recovery options but my Nvidia driver still wouldn't appear. I ended up using my recovery USB to reinstall Windows 8, restoring the tablet back to its Factory state after I first bought it. My Nvidia driver reappeared and seemed to be functioning just fine.

I downloaded the media tool to upgrade to Windows 10 and then began the process of getting everything updated. I was able to use the tablet as usual for the rest of the day and the next. Then my Nvidia driver vanished once again. It seemed to be a repeat of what happened the first time. Restarting would fix the problem but it gradually became worse.

I decided to use my recovery USB again and go back to Windows 8. This time I stuck with Windows 8 and began the process of updating it to 8.1. I used the instructions provided by Razer (https://dl.razerzone.com/master-guides/Edge/Windows 81 Upgrade Guide for Razer Edge Rev 1.3.pdf) and got all the updates for Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again with the driver disappearing.

I used my recovery USB again to go back to Windows 8 three days ago. I went ahead and installed all the updates available but did not go to Windows 8.1. I've had no issues with the Nvidia driver for the last few days. Everything appears to be working fine save that my software is out of date and I've been getting warnings about Windows 8.1. Going by the messaging, it looks like Windows 8 is going to eventually force me to go to 8.1.

So here's my questions. If I keep automatic updates turned off, will that prevent Windows from forcing me to upgrade as a temporary solution for my problem? And are there any resolutions for the problem I'm experiencing? It seems like some "new" update from Windows is causing the problem for me on Windows 8.1 and 10. I really liked 10 and would like to go back to it but not if it cripples my tablet.
