Sleep mode causes windows failure or various software to behave erratically (after updates a few months ago)

A few months ago Microsoft pumped out several updates a day (more or less) for a good while and because I had some issues at the time I forgot caution and installed them.

For a while now sleep mode causes a lot of problems, frequently I get BSOD the instant the pc wakes up or instead of waking up I get some hardware failure sounds while the screen stays black and a mere reboot results in the BIOS starting and failing then the pc restarts again and fails again until I cut the power for a minute or so, after that it starts again normally.

Sometimes windows does wake up only to get BSOD a few minutes later. It is rare for windows to continue working after waking from sleep mode.
And whenever windows doesn't fail instantly from waking after sleep mode many programs behave erratically, something they never do without sleep mode involved.

This can be things like Chrome (latest version) not having the focus on the address bar when opening a new tab and being able to load any url successfully or MPC having an error every time I load a file and being unable to show subtitles or games crashing every time I try to start them.

It's hard to imagine this has to do with the individual software when happens to so many different programs, only happens after waking from sleep mode and sleep mode already causes windows itself to fail.

Are there any recent (less than a year old) updates known to cause this or other issues?

Are the rollups free of this because they have been bugfixed or are the rollups nothing but several updates in one package without touching them again?

Is it possible that security updates can cause these issues? When I uninstall all the updates in the past half year or more I plan to keep security updates but of course only if they aren't the problem.
