Hi,

The "Show Desktop" icon/shortcut has disappeared from the Quick Launch

folder. How do I restore it?

Thanking you in advance.

This ought to do it.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/190355

Once it is in the QL area, you can delete the new .scf file from the

desktop.

Create a text file in Notepad as follows:

[Shell]

Command=2

IconFile=explorer.exe,3

[Taskbar]

Command=ToggleDesktop

Save it as Show Desktop.scf then drag it to the Quick Launch bar.

Or just click on this link:

Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61)

Also note that you can do the same thing with a keyboard shortcut

rather than a shortcut on the Quick Launch bar: the combination of the

Windows key + D or the Windows key + M.

Thanks Jose and Ken for your replies and the advice. Even before that I

zipped the file in the QL folder of one computer and unzipped it in the one

having the problem. It has started functioning.

Good job.

There is nothing mysterious about the QL area - it is just some

regular shortcuts in a regular folder where you can browse to with

Explorer and add/modify/delete them just like anything else.

Everybody has one!

For me:

C:\Documents and Settings\Jose\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet

Explorer\Quick Launch

The Show Desktop is a little different being a shell command file

(.SCF)

You're welcome. Glad to help. And glad it's working now.

But have you tried the keyboard shortcuts noted below that do the same

thing
