shared mailbox not marking emails as read for other users

We have a shared mailbox and several people have access to it, if I open an email within the shared mailbox it then shows as "read", however on the other users who use this same shared mailbox the email still shows as unread. I would like it so that whenever anyone reads an email in this shared mailbox it also shows as read on all other users who access this mailbox.
