Hopefully this is the right forum, if not my apologies.
This seems pretty basic, but I'm looking for clarification surrounding assigning CPU cores, sockets, etc. to Windows Server Standard VMs that are running on VMWare, using the server 2016 licensing model. All these years it has never been overly clear and I've left it at 1 virtual CPU in VMWare to remain compliant.
If I have a host with QTY 2 CPUs with QTY 8 cores each I fully understand I have to purchase the 16 core package for Windows Server Standard and I can run QTY 2 servers in a virtualized environment with this license. However, when I setup my host am I limited to how many licenses I assign in VMWare?
