Select a program to open this .txt file

Last year I uninstalled the modern notepad (The modern notepad can be uninstalled without third-party software) because I don't like it. When I try to open a .txt file now, it doesn't have a program to open with, but when I click "Choose an app on your PC" and then select C:\Windows\Notepad.exe or C:\Windows\System32\Notepad.exe it gives an error.What do I do? This is so annoying, I hate this modern "open with" applet. I appreciate any help.
