I am having a problem downloading a specific update for my computer.
Every time the update installer runs, it keep on coming up with an error
code (643)
I have followed all the suggestion that windows helper has given me, and
nothing avails. The message reads as follows.

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1
(KB929729)

Installation date: ‎7/‎11/‎2007 1:11 AM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 643

Update type: Important

A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to
compromise your Windows-based system running the Microsoft .NET Framework and
gain complete control over it. You can help protect your computer by
installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may
have to restart your computer.

More information:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91233

I am having the same issue. Hopefully this can be rectified in a short time.
I keep getting notified that I must download this file.and when I try I get
the 643 error code, as well.

I'm having the same problem - how can you have an installation error with a
security update ?

I have seven failed updates from today (running Vista Ultimate) - I looked
into the logs and found the security update relating to KB935807 is the
update that fails, with the remaining updates not installing because
KB935807 failed. This update involves security changes to the windows
firewall. The error I'm seeing in the Security Centre is 80070002, which
apparently relates to missing files in the downloaded update. I have
followed all the steps suggested, but to no avail. Is this whats happening
to you?

Any one else having this problem?

Microsoft needs to address that this is an issue. I've tried uninstalling my
virus software, clearing my downloaded temp files, and attempted to reinstall
more times than I care to mention.

MS, please HELP!

Same here, I don't know if they look at these posts. Where would we report
this?

It would be quite a shame if the people we buy Operating Systems from chose
to disregard a problem which is affecting thousands of people. I personally
paid for this upgrade to Vista and it bothers me to think the money just went
in Mr. Gates' pocket. I hope a technician can come along and assist us in
resolving this annoying problem.

Follow the instructions on this blog and see if it helps:

http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/04/08/406671.aspx

I don't know if this helps at all, but I found this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931212

I've seen several issues posted here; to address some of the other ones,
also ensure that the following directory exists (if it doesn't, create it):
%WINDIR%\System32\LogFiles\Firewall

Thanks all!

This is very frustrating. Kind of makes you wish you had kept XP. :/
